Webster’s
Dictionary defines relaxing as spending time resting or doing something
enjoyable especially after you have been doing work.
When
you think of things that you consider work, what comes to mind? Maybe it’s
deadlines, or being a taxi driver for your kids, or keeping up with house
chores that’s stressing you out. Whatever it might be we all need to take the
time to relax and refresh from the daily grind.
It’s
important to take a break from daily activities so you can be the best version
of yourself: the best parent, the best spouse, the best friend, the best
worker.
In
the world we live in today, it’s easy to think if I’m not doing something
productive all the time then I’m not doing my best or giving 100%. We think we
always have to be multitasking or else we aren’t being productive.
In
order to be effective, you don’t always have to be “busy” or on the go. You
have to have a balance of productivity and stopping every once and awhile to
relax and enjoy the moment.
Even
God took time to refresh, “By the seventh day God completed His work which He
had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done”
- Genesis
2:2.
Some
ways you can relax and refresh are:
•
take
a walk
• go
on a vacation
• go
out on a date with your spouse
• take
time for yourself (go to the gym or do something you love)
• spend
quality time with each member of your family
•
read
a book
•
unplug
from technology
Finding
refreshment is how you are able to live the life you want to live. It’s about
being intentional and passionate with your time and what you do. So if you want
to make this summer amazing, make sure to find time to refresh and do what makes your soul happy.
